Ella Fitzgerald Picture
Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 – June 15, 1996), also known as Lady Ella (the First Lady of Song), was one of the most influential jazz singers of the 20th Century, the winner of thirteen Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Art presented by President Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom presented by the elder President Bush. Gifted with a three-octave vocal range, she was noted for her purity of tone, near faultless phrasing and intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing. Although considered by many to be simply the best, some critics have suggested that, whilst not exactly "phoning in the lyrics", she occasionally failed to put the required emotional investment into her interpretations. She remains, however, one of the most successful, influential and enduringly popular singers of the last century.

Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man Lyrics

Ella Fitzgerald

Oh listen, sister,
I love my mister man,
And I cant tell yo why,
Dere aint no reason
Why I should love dat man.
It must be sumpin dat de angels done plan.
Refrain:
Fish got to swim, birds got to fly,
I got to love one man till I die.
Cant help lovin dat man of mine.
Tell me hes lazy, tell me hes slow,
Tell me Im crazy (maybe I know).
Cant help lovin dat man of mine.
When he goes away
Dats a rainy day,
But when he comes back dat day is fine,
De sun will shine!
He kin come home as late as kin be,
Home widout him aint no home to me.
Cant help lovin dat man of mine.
~~~
My man is shifless
An good for nuthin too
(hes mah man jes de same)
Hes never round here
When dere is work to do.
Hes never round here when deres workin to do.
De chimbleys smokin,
De roof is leakin in,
But he dont seem to care.
He kin be happy
Wid jes a sip of gin.
Ah even love him when his kisses got gin!
Repeat refrain
